Addison – Small village in the Canisteo River Valley, Addison is convenient to Corning, and only 32 miles from Elmira. Afton – Northeast of Binghamton by 26 miles. Rural community. Akron – Near the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, 30 miles from Buffalo and 60 miles from Rochester. Albany – The Capital City of New York State located on the Hudson River, Albany is convenient to the Catskills, the Adirondacks, The Hudson Valley and has many attractions - historical and fun-filled - and entertainment choices.
Albion – Picturesque village near the Erie Canal. Alexandria Bay – Beautiful area north of Watertown in the heart of the 1000 Islands. Great vacation spot for outdoor or fishing enthusiasts.
Alfred – Home of both Alfred State University and Alfred State College, rural setting only 26 miles north of the Pennsylvania State Line and Genesee, Pa. There are accommodations in Alfred State
University at the Saxon Inn or check Bed & Breakfasts in Angelica, Andover or Scio. Alpine – Located in Schuyler County only 13 miles from Ithaca in Tompkins, 17 miles from Elmira in Chemung County, and only 7 miles from Watkins Glen State Park on the edge of beautiful Seneca Lake.
Altamont – Only 18 miles from Albany and 15 miles from Shenectady, home of the Black Creek Fiddler's reunion. Altmar – Halfway between Watertown and Syracuse, known for great Salmon fishing at the Salmon River. Amagansett – Near the very tip of Long Island in the Hamptons and famous for celebrity sightings. Amenia – Only 11 miles from the Appalachian Trail in Cornwall Bridge, Connecticut, scenic Amenia is half an hour from Poughkeepsie and an hour and a half from New York City. Great getaway spot.
Amherst – In the suburbs of Buffalo, nearby communities include Williamsville. Amsterdam - Montgomery County City. Points of interest include the Walter Elwood Museum and the Noteworthy Indian Museum. Andes – In spacious and hilly Delaware County, Andes is closer to Greene County than most other Delaware County locations. Andover – At the junction of routes 21 and 417, it is conveniently near the scenic east-west New York Highway 17 which connects it to Jamestown and Elmira.
Angelica – Just north of Andover (see above), convenient to Alfred University, Alfred State College, Houghton College, and St. Bonaventure University.
Aquebogue – Located at the beginning of the North Fork right in the center of Suffolk County north of the Great
Peconic Bay. Arietta – At the southern border of Hamilton County just north of Fulton County convenient to Utica (50 miles) and Albany (70 miles).
Ashland – In the heart of Greene County in the Catskill Mountains. Ashville – Near Jamestown and Chautauqua Lake.
Athens – On the Hudson River south of Albany and convenient to both Catskill and Hudson and many Hudson Valley attractions.
Athol – Nearly halfway between Albany and Burlington, Vermont, mountainous Athol is a half hour drive to Glens Falls and an hour to Saratoga Springs. Near many hunting and fishing spots. Auburn – On Owasco Lake this Finger Lakes community is half an hour to Syracuse and an hour to Rochester. Aurora – Finger Lakes community on the shore of Cayuga Lake. Austerlitz – Near the Massachusetts border and the Berkshire Mountains. Averill Park – Halfway between Albany and the Massachusetts border in Rensselaer County. Avoca – In the heart of Steuben County halfway between Dansville and Corning. Avon – On the east bank of the Genesee River, Avon has the distinction of being the only place in America that Cool Whip is made!

mentioned in Indian folklore. Colden – Located in Erie County south of Buffalo, Colden is only 11 miles from Rich Stadium
where the Buffalo Bills play their home games. Cold Spring – This quiet river town located where the Hudson
River cuts through the Appalachian Mountains is home to more than 340 historic buildings, bridges and roads that are all landmarks listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Cold Spring Harbor – Nassau County Long Island waterfront community. Colton – Located south of Potsdam in St. Lawrence County. Conesus – Located between Conesus and Hemlock Lakes in the Finger Lakes region in Livingston County.
